My Story

I went from rock bottom to having a remarkable life after saying three sentences out loud. That’s it. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. I’ll tell you my story so you don’t have to suffer like how I did.

This is my story.

I went from rock bottom to having a remarkable life after I gave up on everything and simply surrendered. That’s it. I couldn’t believe how simple it was. I’ll tell you my story so you don’t have to suffer like how I did.

I was working as a creative director at one of the top media production companies in Toronto. I had the perfect life on paper – a fat salary, a downtown condo, a beautiful girlfriend, weekends on the yacht – you get the idea.

Then one evening, it all fell apart. I lost my job. Soon after my girlfriend left, and within a few months I was completely broke, homeless, and depressed.

It was the end of the world for me.

I had started believing that life would never get any better, I worried what people were saying about me, and I was ashamed. I felt life wasn’t worth living. Then one day, when I couldn’t take it anymore, tears flowed, and the truth came out:

“I can’t take this anymore. I give up. I surrender.”

At that moment, everything got quiet, I felt a deep sense of calm, and out of that silence an idea emerged. “How about Asia?”

It was a ridiculous idea, I thought. I had made the Top 30 Under 30 List, I had worked on films produced by Steven Spielberg, I was featured in The New York Times, I had received awards, goddamn awards! My ego butted in. Yes, I couldn't just leave the entertainment world and move to Asia, I nodded.

But my heart knew, I wasn't happy. I had tried everything I could've thought of, but nothing had changed. There had been no real freedom, no adventure, no happiness.

I wanted to be happy.

I had taught English for a year in South Korea when I was a fresh graduate. It had been an amazing experience - climbing mountains on the weekends, exploring the country on my motorbike, and all the daily shenanigans. I was happy! I remembered. So why not? I thought.

Long story short, I packed my bags and moved to Asia.

It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Now, my life is full of adventure, I have the freedom to do the things I love, and I'm truly happy. Like giggly happy.

I believe there’s a better way to live, to self-improve, to reach our highest potentialI want to help and inspire you to create a life you’ll truly love - a life full of freedom, adventure, and happiness.

What am I doing now?

I’m focusing more on creating visual art; a medium through which I can express myself better. I have always enjoyed taking photographs and writing, but I also felt something had been missing. Now that I have merged my photography, my writing, and my sketches into my visual artwork, I feel I’m getting closer to my authentic work. My art lets me express myself in a way other media can’t. I’m going to continue making art, continue experimenting, and see where it takes me.
